Acumen was founded in 2006 by Nick Ryan and Matt Wills, two ex blue-chip FMCG execs tired of the lack of effective revenue management solutions in the industry.
Since then, Acumen have been helping leading FMCGs make smarter decisions across all revenue management pillars. Now, Acumen have offices in London and Singapore, and our clients include 13 of the top 30 FMCG businesses in the world.
Acumens founders were CPG veterans who had enough of ERP systems not delivering for commercial decision making and being on the receiving end of bloated strategy consulting from the big consulting players – they decided there had to be a better way to support commercial decision & revenue management in CPGs.
2006
Acumen launched it’s global SaaS strategic pricing management tool, allowing large multinationals to see the pricing and investments they were agreeing with their customers across all their markets in a consistent and robust way – a game changer in terms of international customer negotiations and highlighting where their pricing and investment problems were globally.
2008
Through their expanding network it was clear to the Acumen team that many of their clients were struggling to control their promotional investments and had little clarity on what was working and what wasn’t, the Acumen team trialled an early TPM tool with a couple of clients.
2010
Three years later, to meet the growing need of trade promotions management Acumen launched it’s highly configurable scalable TPM tool, quickly new clients came onto the platform where they could see the highly configurable nature of the tool provided a perfect solution for them matching their terminology & ways of working whilst also pushing them forward into more efficient and higher value added activities.
2013
8 years after founding the company our solutions and being used in over 60 countries globally, providing transparency, efficiency, control to all their RGM activities helping drive a higher return on their customer investments, this was also the year we started working on TPM with the largest CPG in Australia Coca-Cola.
2015
Off the back of new client wins we established a dedicated office in Singapore to service the APAC clients and expand our business in the region.
2018
In 2019 the founders recognised the need to accelerate growth and further drive the scale up of Acumen, they implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System, split their roles between CEO & Chairman and established a world beating leadership team, this at the same time as really cementing the amazing culture that Acumen had always provided, allowing us to recruit some of the best candidates in the market.
2019
By 2023 Acumen had been growing at 20%+ per year since 2019, and we were recognised as a Great place to work, and one of the best places to work for tech, wellbeing and women.
2023
For us to fully exploit the opportunities in front of use we needed investment to keep scaling after an extensive process to find the right partner Acumen was acquired by Infor where there was a great strategic fit with our software and theirs and they are very excited by how our strategic consulting can expand their offering in the CPG / F&B vertical.
